The Grey Havens

Well, I'm back.

Famous final words of the epic trilogy.  Although my adventure wasn't as moving, it is, for the time being anyway, behind me.  In the end, (again, thusfar; this is by no means over) I get to keep my appendages; though the fight was to the wire, and I'm back on my feet (literally).  I can gladly say that I feel extremely fortunate and thankful that our society hasn't yet fallen to the universal healthcare crowd; I surely would have lost a limb or two waiting if it had.

I'm also glad Pep-  er Mrs Pepperhawk din kill me off in the last diary, as I hope to get back to the much-beloved lib-stompin' (in truth, I never stopped; but its hardly advisable to stomp your lib PT technician when you still can't stand on yer own).

From all appearances, it seems they haven't let up, (*whew*), and so I can hopefully return to the nightly polka.

Life is better than you can imagine.

AWOL

I'm afraid my ISP must be liberal, because it's not working  =).

My understanding is that it'll be out for another week or so; equipment upgrades in the area.

The dawg will be back to barking after that.

The 6'-2 ATM of INFO

I heard Jerry Doyle talking about his legal immigration plan on the radio today and I must say I thought it was pretty good.

I'll admit that I haven't listened to him much, and at times he's had me pulling my hair out when I did.  But I think this sums up what LEGAL immigration could be like.  The only condition I would place on this, really, would be that the fence would have to be the 'Burning Bush'.  Check it out (sorry, it appears that Jerry likes
CAPS -.-):

Jerry's 10 commandments for legal immigration...
JERRY DOYLE"S LEGAL IMMIGRATION 10 COMMANDMENTS

"1. IF YOU ENTER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ILLEGALLY OR OVERSTAY YOUR VISA, YOU WILL NEVER BE ELIGIBLE TO BECOME A CITIZEN OF THE US. NO EXCEPTIONS. "

This is what used to be called 'common sense'.  Not that it matters to the people who are willing to break laws to come here, but it lays out exactly what people can expect NOT to expect, should they decide to do so.

"2. IF YOU HIRE SOMEONE WHO IS ILLEGAL, YOU AND / OR YOUR BUSINESS WILL BE FINED $50,000.00 PER EMPLOYEE. "STRICT LIABILITY" WILL BE THE LEGAL STANDARD. "

No!!!11one   21 years, and it STILL hasn't started.  I had heard that Reagan wanted the fine to be $1 million, and the stardards to be whereas a set percentage of employees were illegal.  Incidentally, I believe that the 'strict liability' statement is basically saying that ignorance is no excuse.

"3. THE POLICY OF "ANCHOR BABIES" IS NO LONGER THE LAW. YOU ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE TO BE A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES IF YOU ARE BORN "OF" A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

This may seem confusing.  I think it should read; "YOU ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE TO BE BORN A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES...".  Then it makes sense.

"4. "SANCTUARY CITIES AND / OR STATES" WILL RECEIVE NO FEDERAL TAX DOLLAR REVENUE SHARING OR MATCHING. FEDERAL HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT STANDARDS WILL BE THE TEMPLATE."

Can I get an 'Awwwww  Yeeeeaaaahhhh'?

"5. "SANCTUARY HOUSES OF WORSHIP", IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF US LAW, WILL LOSE THEIR TAX EXEMPT STATUS."

This one might be a bit of a bone of contention with some people.  Doyle had a woman named Kim Bobo from The New Sanctuary Movement on his show, discussing this latest trend of churches, etc. harboring illegal aliens from authorities.  He went through special pains to state that these groups "assume that enforcement officials won't enter" these places to aprehend illegals.  Bobo took special pains to illustrate that her understanding of 'immigrant' and 'illegal alien' is to be one and the same thing.

"6. FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, DOING BUSINESS IN THE UNITED STATES, WILL BE PROHIBITED FROM OFFERING AND PROVIDING ANY INCENTIVE PROGRAM(S), ANY DISCOUNT LOAN(S), SUBSIDIZED CHECKING AND / OR SAVINGS ACCOUNT(S) OR ANY "SPECIAL" OFFER(S) TO ANYONE IN THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY."

Now if this isn't already a law, then every lawmaker in the country should be fired for public display of 'jackassery'.

"7. PUBLIC EDUCATION, MEDICAL AND DENTAL SERVICES, HOUSING, SOCIAL SERVICES, FOOD STAMPS, SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, SSDI AND ANY OTHER US GOVERNMENT PROGRAM WILL BE FOR THE BENEFIT OF LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES ONLY."

This one is law

"8. ANY PERSON(S), CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION(S), OR BUSINESS ENTITY THAT HARBORS ANY ILLEGAL ALIEN(S) WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY BE CHARGED WITH A FEDERAL OFFENSE AND LOSE THEIR CITIZENSHIP."

Again, I can hear the caterwauling already.  "But but but... Joe Citizen had some illegal guy cutting his grass.  Surely you don't think he ought to lose his citizenship for that, are you mad?!?!?"  Cutting grass and 'harboring' illegals are two completely different beasts.  See Commandment #2.  Joe may ought to think about getting off his, likely, voluminous butt and cutting his own damned grass.

"9. GUEST WORKER VISAS WILL BE ISSUED ON A 5 YEAR TRAILING AVERAGE OF THE AGGREAGATE NUMBER OF VISAS ISSUED WITH ADJUSTMENTS FOR PROJECTED GDP GROWTH AND / OR CONTRACTION."

This kind of reminded me of the old Steve Martin bit about the 'Crimestoppers Oath'

I promise not to bully my friends.
I promise not to leave my keys in the car.
I promise not to depriciate nontaxable items brought forth from the previous tax year.

GOOD!

I hate legaleze, but this looks to me to say that as the GDP goes up the volume of visas issued will go up and vice versa.

"10. ENGLISH WILL BE THE ONLY LANGUAGE USED IN THE PUBLIC WORKPLACE, PUBLIC EDUCATION, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND FACILITIES, HOSPITALS AND RELATED MEDICAL FACILITIES AND THE FEDERAL COURT SYSTEM. ALL VOTING FOR FEDERAL OFFICES WILL BE DONE IN ENGLISH ONLY."

Can I get an AMEN??  Hallelujah!

I think this is a pretty good idea, as it makes plainer the idea behind some of the laws we have and some we would like to see implemented.  Of course, this program, or any other program is worth exactly 't!ts on a boar' unless ENFORCEMENT is part of that program.  But it is a solid place to start.  It is also the equivalent of 'Mmm chocolate!' on the "Makes the dawg damp" scale.

The World is not Enough

So we all get duped.  The GOP in the senate has sold us all down the river, and our president has hidden the oars.  As the senate prepares to pass legislation granting amnesty to 12 million plus illegal aliens, there IS still some salt to rub into the wounds.

MyWay is reporting, believe it or not, that the ILLEGAL ALIENS are complaining that this sellout AMNESTY legislation is UNFAIR (cue worlds-smallest-vioin music).

"
LOS ANGELES (AP) - David Guerra wants to be legal, but he says the path to citizenship offered by the Senate on Thursday would be too risky and too expensive, and could end up driving him deeper into the shadows."

Hooooo kay.  Too risky?  Seems crossing the desert and ducking federales was playtime, but going home is not.  Expensive?  More expensive than taxes? Oh thats right...  WHAT TAXES.  *I* pay more than  $5,000 every year just for medical insurance, so that ILLEGALS can get free dentures.  If you WANTED to be LEGAL, you would have waited in line, chump.

"Guerra's wife and children in El Salvador depend on the $300 he sends home each month from his job as a day laborer. Key provisions of the legislation would require him to return home to apply for residency, pay a $5,000 fine and spend thousands more in application fees."

Boo-frickin'-hoo.  In El Salvador, they can probably afford, on that 300 bucks, as good or better than I can here.  Nice try, but no.  And a FINE?  Allow me to explain.  A FINE is what you pay for BREAKING THE LAW.

"That would be disastrous for his family, he said, and, worse, he's not sure he can trust U.S. immigration authorities who have been rounding up and deporting his fellow immigrants for months."

That li'l violin is singing away.  And Oh My Heavens No!  You can't TRUST immigration authorities?  Hmm, their job is SUPPOSED to be stopping grab-asses like yourself from entering this country ILLEGALLY in the first place.  Oh no, I think *I* have more reason not to trust immigration authorities than you do.

'"If I go home, who is going to guarantee that I'll be let back in?" said the 44-year-old who lays bricks, clears weeds and does landscaping.'

This one is the kicker.  You want a GUARANTEE!  Tell you what, if you GUARANTEE me that no people henceforth will ILLEGALLY enter this country, I may consider it.

This is outrageous.  Theres several of these on that page, but I can't stand seeing more of this garbage.  These scrubs sneak in illegal, siphon services, skip out on taxes, subvert God knows what other laws and send the money (that they supposedly DON'T make) out of the country, and now a half-assed AMNESTY law is 'unfair'.    The storm is coming.

Who's the Sicko?

As I was surfing around, checking out articles about Fred Thompson & the Idiot (of course, that being Michael Moore), I happened upon a photo.  Following the link, I got to this site.  If you want to see what BS is in store for us in the next Michael Moore CRAP-u-mentary, go look at it.

WARNING:  some of the images are kind of graphic, and very sad.

Devout Believers Unite

The text, I assume, was placed on the screen.

"He was an obvious con man." - Jacob Weisberg

Jacob Weisberg, editor of Slate-dot-com has issues with Mitt Romney. Rather, issues with what Romney believes. Or perhaps that he believes it 'too much'.

In the Paula Zahn interview, the transcript of which can be found on CNN.com, Weisberg demeans people who are devout in their faith.  Surprise.

Of Mormon founder, Joseph Smith, Weisberg states:

"He was an obvious con man. Romney has every right to believe in con men, but I want to know if he does. And, if so, I don't want him running the country."

Hmm let's see...

Global Warming

Fahrenheit 9-11

The Rose Law Firm

Fortress Investment

Yep gotta watch those con men. Also noted, the anti-religious attempt at consistency:

"If he believed literally in the theology and the tenets of Mormonism, the same way I would feel about an Orthodox Jew who believed that the Bible was literally true, or a fundamentalist Christian who believed that the Earth was 6,000 years old, and didn't believe in evolution for -- for that reason."

As one of the lefties said earlier today, "What an interesting effort to approximate an English sentence." An Editor.  How dare we support someone judgemental, someone with convictions.  How positively squishy.

I'm really tiring of these "Ok, so theres a man in the sky.." people. The fact that Romney, or any Mormon, or any religious person has faith in their faith (as Beck put it) is no different than the faith that Slate-dot-com has in Global warming:

"The electricity we generate is responsible for 38 percent of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States, making it the largest single source overall. As demand for electricity has risen, so have greenhouse-gas emissions, increasing by 25 percent over the last two decades, ...".  Stop in & take the New & Improved Green Challenge.  Just make sure you've discredited the infidel scientists who don't agree with you first.  Yeah Right.

Sounds like a con to me. Make sure you park your prius facing east, and remember, buy 5 carbon offsets a day, and take your daily smart pill.  Dust off that autographed 8x10 of Swammy Algore.  Suckers.

That Phrase Again ...

Michelle Malkin has a post up that highlights some of the hypocracy surrounding Freedom of Speech.

FIRE has come to the corner of a conservative campus paper, The Primary Source, over heat it's taking from Tufts University's Comittee on Student Life (which they obviously don't have) over two satirical articles published by the Source deemed intimidating to black & muslim students (I know, I know).

The Comittee of Student (with no) Life issued a decision against TPS, which stated:

"Freedom of Speech should not be an unfettered license to
violate the rights of other members of the community, without
            recourse."

As usual, the conservative gets strung up for 'satire', whilst scrubs like Opie & Anthony are blindly defended for their 'entertainment'.

Incidentally, the so-called 'satirical' (read: factual here) piece that allegedly 'intimidated' and 'harassed' muslims (I know) is a simple one-page flyer highlighting historical atrocities carried out by Islamic regimes.  That it's considered satire can only be attributed to the timing of it's release.

Props to M/M & FIRE for keeping daylight on the greazy moonbats in academia.

I've created a monsta!

It is only fitting that I embark on this journey on a subject that is indirectly canine-related.  That would be wolf.  Crying 'wolf', to be precise, and the crying is getting unbearably loud.

'Freedom of Speech'.  The phrase almost leaves a bittersweet taste on the tongue.  I'll preface this endeavor with a disclaimer of sorts:  if my fellow countrymen believe strongly enough in everyone's freedom of speech that they are willing to die for it, I have absolutely no problem with it.  That ought to take care of the moonbat snipers.  Onward.

By now everyone and their grand-maw has heard about the Opie & Anthony debacle regarding the Secretary of State.  I've never listened to these guys, nor am I inclined to.   My understanding is that they are of the ilk of the dregs, fart jokes, crass humor and scatological drivel.  As such, I could care less what they, or anyone they may be inclined to host, might say, truly, even when it involves raping of Secretary Rice.  Face it, some of us have standards and some of us don't.

But what motivated me to comment on the story at all was a read of the Neal Boortz column calling for their heads; or rather, the commentary that followed.  I sincerely believe that I have never seen the phrase 'Freedom of Speech' fly as much as I saw it there.  The wolves in all their glory.  Among the calls for Boortz' head and typical Pavlovian panting, the phrase must have been thrown down at least 30 times.  Most distressing, was the fact that among all the calls for FoS, not one minute reference to the associated responsibility that , obviously to me, come with FoS and all the rest of the F's.  I did mention that I found the use of the term 'entertaining' as scary, given the subject that sparked the whole charade, but noone gave responsibility a nod.  Now, I'm not naive enough to think that a sermon on the Rights/Responsibility argument would even be taken seriously ( I mean we ARE talking about moonbats, for the majority), but I found it sad.  The phrase has lost it's meaning.  Among all the PC commandments and fragile feelings, 'Freedom of Speech' has become meaningless, a pathetic catchphrase, a cliche of convenience.

We have gone from John Zenger's libel trial, to the Alien & Sedition Acts to the Emancipation Proclamation... to raping Condi Rice.  What once had a meaning, a profound impact on the lives of all americans, is now but the babbling of a couple of tasteless twits.  I'm no scholar, and I don't pretend to be any more knowledgeable about the Bill of Rights, all of it's subtleties & textures, than any other joe.  I do think its a damned shame that people who pine for the freedom to say what they want to say give zero consideration to the repercussions of their words.
